Maki-e Glass – Old Fashioned / Gaifū Kaisei (South Wind, Clear Sky)

This old fashioned-style glass showcases a maki-e design inspired by Gaifū Kaisei—“South Wind, Clear Sky”—a celebrated view of Mount Fuji under a vivid red sky, based on the iconic ukiyo-e print by Hokusai.

After the earthquake, we undertook this project with the intention of preserving the craft of maki-e artisans.
Coincidentally, we had the opportunity to exhibit it at a trade show in the United States, where it was well received, leading to its commercialization.
The glass used is a thin, high-quality glass from Kimura Glass.
Please note that this item is not dishwasher safe, as it may cause the maki-e to peel or the glass to break.
